Plush Nails

I had my previous set of nails done at Plush Nails and received endless compliments wherever I went.

Plush already had the thumbs up from local popular beauty forum CozyCot and I just had to see if they lived up to the reputation. Tucked in the heartlands of Bedok Central, I loved that it was really convenient for me to head there since it is located in the east.

The place was cosy and comfortable and the manicurist were all very chatty and nice. My manicurist is also (coincidentally) called Karen and it turns out that she was the classmate of my good friend Clara when they were studying nails at Pink Room. She is very experience and even taught at a nail academy for a while before working at Plush.

There were a huge selection of colours including brands like  OPI, Harmony Gelish, Poshe, Odyssey Nail Systems, Biotone. I had a difficult time deciding on which one but narrowed the selection down to their organic nail polishes. Finally, I choose a glittery matte textured Deborah Lippmann nail polish for my toes.

Fingernails were always trickier because I usually love to incorporate some form of nail art. The girls at Plush nails are all really talented! Just look at some their sample work!

In many nail salons, there are usually only one or two capable nail artist that have a higher dexterity for nail art because painting complicated designs on tiny nail canvas is not easy at all. But at Plush, all the manicurist there are able to produce outstanding nail designs. These photos are taken from each of the different manicurist personal portfolios.

The minion and line characters were super cute!

Some Chinese New Year designs that I can consider for next year.

I almost decided on this silent night nails with shadow buildings, ombre blue nails and stars.

If these designs (which I posted only a fraction of) are not enough to inspire you, they have lots of Japanese Nail magazines you can browse through as well.

I was feeling rather whimsical that day and was looking for something cartoon theme (which is all the rage these days) but I didn’t want to do Mickey Mouse or Snoopy as they were too common. In the end, I decided to fall back on one of my all time favourite Disney Animation Movie, “The Little Mermaid”. With my reddish hair modelled after Ariel, I figured I should pay her tribute on my nails as well.

I googled some photos of my little mermaid characters and showed it to Karen. I was actually worried that it may be too tall an order with my tiny hands and tiny nails (a nail artist’s worst nightmare). Karen said I had tiny nails but also said it was entirely possible!  Without even blinking twice, she set off to work.

I was lovingly treated with SPARITUAL products that contain vegan ingredients from around the world, including many specially sourced and selected plant essences that are Certified Organic and Fair Trade. What I loved most about it was that it had a gorgeous scent that made me feel relaxed immediately.

Hygiene is of utmost priority at Plush so sanitation and sterilisation standards far exceed the guidelines established. The instruments are sterilised immediately after use. Plush’s 3 steps sanitisation process uses heat and chemical sterilisation system, which is a hospital disinfectant, provides broad spectrum protection and prevents cross contamination from all metal salon instruments. Their spa tubs are cleaned with a hospital grade disinfectant cleaner after every client and again nightly. I think this is one of the most important aspects that determines the quality of a good spa.

Plush strongly believes in the well being of their  customers. Each customer service is done with a new nail file, a new buffer and a new toe separator . As these implements cannot be sterilised, I was told that it was mine to take with home after every visit.

Seeing her paint those characters on my nails was amazing! I was was totally mesmerised by the professional artist at work. Karen is extremely talented and had a flair for the tiniest details. Each design you see here is fully hand painted and I was glad I chose to do gel nails so I could keep this gorgeous set of nails for a longer period.

Everywhere I went my nails was a topic of conversation with many strangers exclaiming delight at the designs followed by wonder after finding out that these were hand painted and not stickers. It was like having commission a portable work of art.

In fact, after a body spa session I enjoyed the day after these nails were done, the spa manager and the therapists cordon me off to ask about my nails. They even insist that I write down the name of the nail salon and the address for them because they couldn’t wait to get their nails done.

For the record, here’s where I did my nails.

Below you’ll see an outfit shot I took a few days after getting my nails done. Even thought it’s cartoon themed nails, I was still able to pair it with work wear for the office as it was in a deep blue shade.

These photos were taken in Chinatown after the Yum Cha Restaurant food tasting.
