Korean BBQ

One of the places I love to go to hunt for food is Katong. They seem to have almost any cuisine you are looking for! And for dinner some time back, we headed to this Korean BBQ buffet place at Katong or to be exact, on Joo Chiat Rd.

I think Ju Shin Jung has quite a few branches other than the Joo Chiat one I went.

On a random side note, see the tiny plant I’m standing next to? Well 3-4 years ago I bought the same plant about the same size as the one in the picture and now it’s become a tree!!! It’s taken up 1/2 of my balcony space and it was supposed to be an indoor plant! Everywhere I go I see the small and medium version of this plant. I have no idea how mine grew so humongous!

I know Koji and Sushi really wanted to try this place out as well but every time I go for dinner here, the timing or the plans don’t really work out well. But there’s always next time! On this particular time, Clara only called me when I was almost about done eating and totally full! So I told her we’ll come again soon.

First they heat the grill up.

The free flow Koren tea that they serve is really nice… tastes a little like roasted sesame though I’m not sure if thats what it is.

Next is the multitude of side dishes. They change their side dishes all the time so what you see today may not be what you get the next time you are there.

Then comes the marinated meat. They have a choice of original or marinated versions. I personally prefer the original versions. Grilled meat tastes just good on its own.

Wrap the meat in fresh lettuce with a tad of oil, seasoning and korean sauce. Volia! Perfect!

See the cute heart shaped watermelon we had for dessert! They also gave us some bowls of very sweet liquid dessert that I have no idea what it is.

On the whole, I think it’s a pretty nice place for dinner and since it’s buffet, you can literally eat till you drop. And it’s only about $30 a person. Not too bad at all!

Here are some outfit shots. Simple casual dress for a simple casual dinner.

I frequent the east coast branch! The tea is malt tea. And the dessert drink is ginger tea with pine nuts. Love these to bits!

      Eileen,

Oooh! I love the malt tea too! Find the dessert a little too sweet though. We should go for Korean BBQ together one day!
