Christmas Eve 2008

Christmas has got to be my favorite time of the year. Though the world is going through a recession and everyone’s cutting back… my personal indulgence is in Christmas presents and food. I can nitpick on the weirdest stuff like buying NTUC extra virgin olive oil over Bertolli extra virgin olive oil and how that would save a good 5 bucks. Or go cheap on ice-cream… choosing Walls over Ben and Jerrys. Or even forgoing Dolce and Gabbana for a much cheaper high street version at Topshop.

But forgive me as I indulge in the Christmas season… I remember how we’ll all gather around my Grandparents house with that huge tree all self-decorated. The presents lying beneath while I lie await in anticipation. The highlights of the day include a delicious gourmet dinner prepared by my Grandma… followed by midnight mass service at the church… complete with christmas carols and ringing bells. Then after mass… we’ll go back to the house for gift exchange!!! I’ll stay over and only leave after Christmas brunch the next day. Those were such beautiful times. Now my grandparents are too old and most of my relatives have made their homes in the four corners of the world. But Christmas with friends are just as exciting!

Christmas party won’t be at my house this year… but I’m gonna bring all my Christmas deco to help add spirit to the Christmas dinner we’re having at Sushi’s house! I collect at least one new Christmas deco once a year and I really wanted a tree this year! ( We actually drew a wishing tree for my Christmas party last year.) But I haven’t collected enough deco to warrant buying a tree. I’m not the sort that wants to do up a perfect tree… rather I prefer each ornament to be significant and carefully collected through the years ( just like my grandparent’s tree). My guardian angel must have heard me cause someone gave me the cutest and softest tree this year =) Even Crockie (the green thing ) agrees!

It’s still Christmas Eve so while a few lucky ones got theirs early, quite a number of people haven’t received my presents. So I cannot post up my Christmas buys! But I assure you I’ve been a busy little bee and and I do hope everyone loves the gifts I’ve picked out for them. I’ve yet to wrap about 50% cause I need to buy wrapping paper! But for those that come well-wrapped (courtesy of the shops) I’ll post their pics here! Maybe after Christmas when everyone’s got their gifts and if I have time I’ll post up the actual buys.

And some yummy Christmas donuts for myself! Ok I’ll be honest… the donuts weren’t the only thing I got for me… But I feel very sinful already so no pictures and posting of my personal buys here! I try to buy only things I personally like for others… so was like throwing myself into a sea of temptation when I went Christmas shopping!

And though I blog because I love to blog and not for profit or fame… I still am touched by those that come here often to read and to extend their care for me… to you all… I dedicate this little video.

Gosh! What a truckload of lovely prezzies you’ve bought!
Yes I agree. Christmas shopping is like an ‘evil’ activity with temptations galore. Let’s just say, I am weak in the face of pretty things. 😉
I love your video clip. That is a fabulous tree.
    Get well soon babe!

    Ivy,

Thanks, I’m feeling a wee bit better already. I guess falling sick was a way to stop letting myself be tempted! hehe..
