Bigger Bolder Better

Watsons flagship store at Ngee Ann City is now BIGGER BOLDER BETTER! I attended their official opening ceremony and I have to agree that it’s so much nicer and better! I love the layout of the new store and their new concepts. It is bright clean and yet stocked full with variety as Watsons is known for. Even thought the store space is the same, the new renovation gave Watsons a wonderful facelift and the store just seems way bigger than their old one.

Watsons is officially Singapore’s favourite number one health and beauty retailer! This is based on research conducted by Nielsen in March 2012. The survey polled 512 individuals, both males and females, aged between 18 and 45 years old who were key decision-makers and influencers responsible for purchasing or using personal care products.

Even on a weekday afternoon, the store was packed with guests to support Watsons flagship store launch.  Watsons has really evolved and grown with Singaporeans shoppers since 1988 and I’m happy they are constantly doing better each year with new improvements of concepts and improvement of their services, brands and stores ! That I believe is the secret to their success and why so many shoppers chooses to shop at Watsons.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, we were treated to a traditional lion dance performance. It was sheer entertainment and really brought out the local spirit in a store opening ceremony. The lions proceeded to shower lots of gold coins and oranges at the crowd to “bless” the store with success and prosperity! I got showered quite a few coins and oranges as well so let hope I prosper together with Watsons! Huat ah!

Before the lions could get out of the way, lots of models were already starting to parade around to showcase Watsons dedication to bringing health and beauty in the most comprehensive way for Singapore. I couldn’t wait to start shopping! The store now have wonderfully large sign fixtures so you can navigate to cosmetics, skincare,derma, haircare, personal care, oral beauty supplements or health with ease and efficiency. They even have an in-house pharmacist that can offer advice on healthy lifestyle, over-the-counter medication, health supplements and smoking cessation.

Other interesting concepts this store has includes a dedicated beauty event space titled Cosmetics Play Area for in-store beauty activities, a Semi-Professional Hair Wall for individuals who desire a more professional look; a Men’s Corner designed to offer the latest in men’s grooming; and a Baby & Wellness Corner for all baby and wellness needs. In continuing to bring the best in beauty and health products like DHC and Avalon Organics, the revamped store will now feature new and exclusive skincare brands including Herborist, Senka and Bio-essence Professional; cosmetic brands like Hello Kitty, Clio, Essence, Playboy and haircare brands like Ma Cherie, Marc Anthony just to name a few.

After a short and inspiring speech by Ms Cathy Yeap, Managing Director of Wastons Singapore, we all went to explore the new store!

Lots of cute finger food and macarons were offered to us as we shopping around and went ooh and ahh over our favorite brands.

Here’s a breakdown of what  first-of-its-kind retail concepts you can find at the new store.

• A dedicated Cosmetics Play Area which will hold in-store beauty activities every two weeks (makeovers, cosmetics/skincare try-outs, haircare etc)
• A Baby & Wellness Corner where parents can find products from Nutrition and Personal Care to Health Supplements, and get parenting tips and advice from specialists
• A Men’s Corner offering the latest skincare, personal and grooming items just for men
• A Semi-Professional Hair Wall with products ranging from salon-inspired hair care items to solution-based treatments

One of the newest items in the store was the range of Playboy fragrances! I also had time to check out on DHC, Dollywink, Ma Cherie, Marc Anthony and all the other brands that I couldn’t wait to buy up! I actually didn’t take much photos in store cause once I started shopping, I didn’t have time for the camera. Watsons stores are mesmerizing cause there’s always something new to try and something old you need to restock on.

I just can’t leave Watsons empty handed and the new flagship store is my favorite Watsons store so I can foresee myself shopping there whenever I’m in the Orchard area. If you’ve not been there, you need to check it out. I don’t think you can miss such a big and bright store but here’s their address.

After the opening ceremony at the Watsons store, Elaine, Jamie, Irene and I went for a tea time catch up session at Domani. I found yummy churros with chocolate sauce there!

Isn’t both Elaine and Jamie gorgeous! Too bad Irene had to leave early for another meeting so we didn’t take any pics with her.
