Tanah Lot

Readers beware: Photo-intensive post… so be patient and wait for them to load.

As promised… more photos from my Bali trip. One of the most famous temples in Bali is the Tanah Lot. Whenever you see pictures of places of interest in Bali… it’s sure to pop out!

Tanah Lot means “Land in the Middle of the sea” and the formation of the rock is a natural formation by the sea waves. It is one of the 7 Balinese sea temples that form a chain on the Balinese Coast.

When the tide is low… you can enter the temple for worship. There is a source of spring water in the cave and you can drink and wash your face there for luck. The priest will then bless you … sprinkle some water on you… place rice on your forehead and put a jasmine flower in your ears.

The tide was starting to rise just as I was leaving the temple. My timing was just nice! Actually the best time to see the temple is supposedly sunset. But I’ve came here during sunset on my previous trips and though it is very nice… I feel that there were way too many tourist! And I generally hate crowds.

I had lunch at a restaurant on the cliff at Tanah Lot… gorgeous view and fabulous food! If you do come to Tanah Lot you really have to eat here… make it a lunch date so that you can enjoy the surroundings.

Sitting right above the cliff would be gorgeous at sunset! But I was there mid afternoon so it was quite hot and I chose to be seated indoors instead.

I went for horse riding in the evenings… but I’ll have to post pictures another time cause I’m gotta meet my friends to plan and buy stuff for the Halloween party tomorrow =)

I’m not very good with the camera but I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite shots that I’ve taken near the restaurant.

Hi love your pics as usual! The one who takes for u – he/she has good angles actually. Do u use a tripod cos it seems like u travel alone. Or u have a travel partner ? Are u attached ?

    Iryn,

I’m in the research line… not rich though I would love to be. I guess it’s a matter of where and how you want to spend your limited funds… I love to travel and I love my bags and clothes… but I’ll scrimp and go budget with shoes… cosmetics and fancy cars so life really is about choices. It’ll be real sweet to buy whatever you want and not have to work at all… lol…

    Jas,

Thanks… I took all the pictures without me in them. Those with me in the pictures are either taken by my partner or by my friends depending on who I’m traveling with. I don’t use a tripod cause I like my camera to be small and like and I don’t want any more additional bulk… but sometimes you can always use what you have around you to improvise into a tripod =)

    Pheuron,

A week would be wonderful… though I could stay there for an even longer time. It depends if they are activity orientated or just want to sightsee… pure sightseeing can be done in 4 days but the activities to do there is endless.
