Paris and desserts

I love French food and I love French pastries and desserts! I go on food hunts all the time and try as much as my stomach allows to have as much desserts as I can because they all taste so good and they are so well crafted!

Laduree and their famous macaroons need no introduction.  A quick take out box of macaroon back to my hotel is common for me especially in rose, mint, pistachios and chocolate flavors. But if you can spare the time, do try out the Laduree at 16 rue Royal where you can have a good nice lunch before dessert! For the die hard chocoholics, the chocolate zabaglione mousse will be a one way ticket for you to heaven.

Other than Laudree, here is my list of must-go desert places in Paris.

Angelina Chez du Chocolat ( 226 rue de Rivoli)for their amazing hot chocolate! Very rich and creamy so it’s the place to go for chocolate lovers!

Pierre Herme (72, rue Bonaparte) – A really overpriced place in my opinion but good macaroons. Some people claim is superior to Laudree.

Berthillon ( 31 rue St Louis en l’Île) Best ice-cream in Paris! I highly recommend you at least try the salted caramel but if you want to stick to traditional classics like chocolate and strawberry, they are available too. And the best part, they are located walkable distance from Notre Dame so you could grab one after battling the sightseeing crowds.

Le Grenier a Pain ( 38 rue des Abbesses) – If you are a dessert lover but you don’t really have the sweetest tooth, then stop by this bakery. I love their chocolate tarts and cakes but their award winning star in this bakery is the iconic French baguette.

Sadaharu Aoki (35 Rue de Vaugirard) – Located near Jardin du Luxembourg, it’s a great idea to pack some lovely desserts for a picnic at the park. Although they serve all manners of famous French desserts, this place is run by a Japanese Chef! They even import their green tea powder for their green tea eclair from Kyoto!

So there you go, my secret hideout locations in Paris!

      Ivy,

I do hope you have as much fun in Paris! I should be doing another list for restaurants so you can pick a couple to splurge on when you are there 🙂
