Paddling down the canals

The main mode of transports in these parts was by boats. Long wooden boats filtered through the many canals all day.

One of the interesting things I notice was that most of the boats were being steered and handled by women! Their ages range from 40 to 70 year olds and they would single handedly transport goods or passengers down the river. I had fun trying my hand and paddling the boat down the canels and it wasn’t easy!
