Eternal Spring Shine

Happy Chinese New Year! As you might have noticed, I’ve changed the banner in the light of the new tiger year! Wishing everyone the best this year and may all your wishes come true.

I’m gonna continue blogging about Taiwan from where I left off… which means I’m still at the Taroko Gorge. This temple you see in the picture  below is called the Eternal Spring Shine or Changchun Shrine 長春祠.

This a memorial shrine complex is a landmark in Taroko Gorge that commemorates the 212 veterans that died constructing the Central Cross Island Higway that cuts through the gorge. It’s shocking that so many people had to sacrifice their lives just to allow the rest of Taiwan a way through this gorge.
