CNY 2010

Marking this down as a belated post cause I do know that I’m posting this series of post 6 months late… but I’m catching up!

Spent the CNY morning with family of course! I rushed back to Singapore on Chinese New Year Day itself just so I can pai nian to my parents.

I had on my tailor made cheongsum that I bought in Shanghai and my gorgeous nails were the result of Clara H. Nails! She’s damn talented and I trust my nails to her anytime! Just look at the incredible details! The most amazing part is that I did my nails 2 weeks before this shot was taken and it’s still in impeccable shape. I’ll put a larger photo at the end of this post.

My mum cooked a sumptuous meal for all of us! I still remember that during that period I was travelling non-stop to so many places that I absolutely craved my mother’s cooking. And mum must have read my mind!

Here are some photos of my outfit that day.

I even bought the earrings to match my dress! New Year means new clothes! The shoes were bought 7 years ago but I never wore it so it’s considered new too!

I love the details of the buttons.

A question… Other then CNY, where else do you wear your chongsum to? I love this piece but I’m wondering when I will take it out to wear again.

And as promised, here is the close up of my Cath Kidston inspired nails! Clara of Clara H Nails painted the flowers and everything else was hand molded using acrylics. I love love love it!

      Katherine,

Thanks! I have to go dig up the address cause I have no idea where the place is. It’s one of the millions of tiny stores in a textile specialty building. You could go dizzy from choosing! Yes I’ve been rushing around quite a bit these 2 years which is why my posts are all soooooo backdated. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that after November I would have a less intense schedule.

Yes, there are tailor shops aplenty in Shanghai. The cheongsam looks gorgeous on you. I will await the name of the textile building.
Cheongsams look good for formal dinners but me being me, on a whim and fancy, I actually wear them to office. Sans high thigh slits and too tight cutting.

I have a love/hate relationship with beautiful acrylic nails. First, my real nails are too short for any nail art. So, acrylic is the only way to go.
My love is admiring them on other ladies. They really look so wonderful. My hate is having them on myself. 3 hours after gushing over them, I am contemplating soaking them off. 1 day later, I just want to pull them off myself! I can’t type properly, I can’t wash and massage my hair properly much less bathe myself well in other places. Yea, so, that’s the unfeminine side of me. I shall be content to gawk at others.

      Ivy,

Thank you. The Shanghai tailor is located at Shanghai South Bund (Shanghai NanWai Tan) Soft-Spinning Material Textile Cloth Market on 399 LuJiaBang Rd. The whole building is filled with countless of tailors so take your time to browse and choose which store you want. Different stores have different fabrics and designs.

I shall try to give my chongsum another go at the office when I can… 🙂

I totally understand the love/hate relationship for acrylic nails since I have 2 dogs and do my own housework. I managed to do some simple cherries theme nail art on my actual nails just recently. Will post them up in another 2 weeks.
