Watsons Beauty Day Out Part 1

Not too long ago, I was invited to Watsons Beauty Day out! If you love beauty and all sorts of beauty products, it was almost like being in wonderland! At every corner we were treated to an array of wonderful beauty demonstrations with a lot of the products just launched or about to be launched exclusively with Watsons! Totally Exciting! So do bear with me if this post is a little long. I’ll try to briefly touch on all the latest offering that you can also look out for!

The Watsons Beauty Day Out was held at Full House. A lovely little double story restaurant at Rendezvous Hotel.  The ideal spot to showcase the multiple range of beauty products that Watsons has!

I was there early so I took a couple of pics around the place  and with some of the fellow bloggers/friends while waiting for the program to start. I think I took a lot more photos with several other girls but the photos are on their camera and these are all I’ve got! The invite I came in the form of an air ticket and the dress code is travel chic so I thought about what I would wear to the airport and this pantsuit is probably what you would have caught me in!

The event was kicked off with a little conversation with Micheas Chan, Watsons marketing and merchandising director and the perfect man to tell us all about the direction Watsons will be headed right now! I love how Watsons is doing slight rebranding and focusing more on how to integrate themselves as a way of life with beauty as their essential core and not just trying to be trendy without a clear direction.

As a Watsons ambassador, I need to brag that Watsons is Singapore’s No 1 Health and Beauty store! This claim is backed by a research conducted by Nielson in March 2012. And it’s not just based on random numbers but voted by real people who love shopping at Watsons above and beyond any other Health and Beauty stores in Singapore. Congrats to my favorite store!

Before I start the tour of products, here is a snapshot of some of the brands that you can only find exclusively in Watsons. It’s only a snapshot because there are so many more brands that are not listed in here.

This map shows the layout of fullhouse and the brands we were learning more about that day.

Lets start with the Watsons brand, of course. I’ve used quite a number of Watsons House Brand products and I have to say that the quality is pretty good! House brands are always cheaper and I feel that not every item is worth paying a premium price if there is a good and cheap alternative. I love that Watsons house brand still pays attention to pretty packaging so that it looks as good as other non-house brand varieties.

Watsons’ Bird Nest Skin care range is one of their popular house brand products ad when you look at the ingredients and test the quality, it’s not hard to see why!

Watsons Vitamin C is my personal fave. Just pop one into a mineral or distilled water and you are ready to travel with some vitamin C enhanced drink that will help boost your immunity system.

Next we take a look at Ma Cherie.

Ma Cherie from Shesido is one of the new hair care products that they recently launched in Watsons. It is super pretty, girly and smells awesome! If you like to beautify your bathroom with pretty bottles and have nice smelling hair all day, this is something you should try. It’s the sort of products that the Japanese are so good at coming up with!

They tried the product on our hair and the smell was so nice! This is going to be a hot seller so grab it before it’s out of stock!

Next, we have the Kent brushes that beauty bloggers are always raving about!

Kent Brushes (as they are now more commonly known) was founded in 1777 by William Kent in the reign of George III. Kent holds a pre-eminent place in the history of brush making, with an unbroken record of excellence in the quality of its production which has been recognised by the granting of Royal Warrants for nine reigns. I tried one and was sold!

Their makeup brush set looks good as well. Even in today’s fast moving, mass-produced assembly, Kent are proud to still be manufacturing many of their original brushes by hand.

We headed to the CLIO area and I was dazzled by the selection! CLIO Korea has been a popular brand in Watsons for their eyeliners and I had no idea they had such a big range of makeup as well! They will slowly be bringing in the extended range of baked powders, lipsticks and eye shadows to Watsons from Korea.

Disco themed, they even had a resident DJ at the CLIO booth! They showed me so many products but my recommendation from them all is the TwistTurn. The latest in eyeliner which they are so known for.

It is 100% waterproof! I tried it on my hand, poured water and then used my fingers to try and rub it off but it didn’t come off! It you need to have your eyeliner on at the beach or pool, this is you best bet!

One of the more eye-catching booths was Slim Spa. They had a hunky topless guy and a slim pretty girl at their booth! Beauty is not just skincare, haircare and makeup. It’s about bodycare too!

We took photos with their ambassador, Robin Leong and tried a couple of their products. Not every product tasted good but there are some that actually taste good and doesn’t even seem like it’s a sliming tool. I have their sample pack and might do a post in the future to detail the tastes but for now, I can tell you that their sliming tea tastes like green tea so that’s really nice and their zero calorie crackers remind me of wang wang crackers which is pretty yummy too.

There are about 5 more brands I experienced at the Watsons Beauty Day out that I’m excited about but I this post is getting too long so I’m breaking it up into 2 parts. Will update more in part 2 of Beauty Day Out soon!
