Thai UFO Steamboat

Clara introduced Regina, Steven and I to this Thai UFO looking steamboat (hotpot) at Golden Mile! There’s a round hump in the middle with vents for grilling your food and the soup surrounds it like a moat for you to boil your food. It’s quite odd and my first time trying this sort of steamboat. The inside is filled with charcoal to heat the food so while there is a slow even temperature, there is no form of heat control.

If you look closely at the photos, you’ll realize that we were given 2 slabs of lard to grease our grilling surfaces! Not the usual butter or oil but just pure animal fats. The results was pretty yummy BBQ food but be prepared to feel hot and greasy after awhile.
