I’ve heard so much about it but it was my first time trying out the Shanghai Maglev Train for myself.
Maglev is a magnetic levitation train and the one in Shanghai is reputed to be the fastest in the world! It has been tested to be able to run at a record speed of 501 km/h (311 mph)! But commercially, the Maglev top operational speed is 431 km/h (268 mph) which already makes it the fastest commercial speed in the world for a regular commercial train.
Like Japan’s bullet train, despite its exceptional speed. It feels extremely stable when seated in one and it’s rather comfortable. I heard that there are now plans to extend the Maglev train services to connect Shanghai and Hangzhou. I believe that will be more appreciated then the current airport only express.
It only took me 7 and a half mins to reach the outskirts of city where I changed to cab to take me to my lodgings!
