Sculptra with Celevenus

I’m sure most of you have heard about using facial fillers to achieve better contours on your face but today I want to share with you an interesting procedure called Sculptra. Unlike fillers, Sculptra does not give immediate overnight results and neither is it a quick fix. It is however a very subtle way of replacing the lost collagen in your face and when wielded by an experience doctor such as Dr. Dylan Chau of CeleVenus Wellness and Aesthetics Clinic, it can help give your face volume in the most natural way.

I’ve always had a very small face with very pronounced cheek bones and hard angles. While such a defined and angular face may be great for males, it doesn’t look as nice on females. The female face looks sweeter and gentler when it has a little more fats and less harsh contours. In Korea, fat grafting is a very popular procedure but I wasn’t keen on going for anything that involved surgery. Thankfully, Dr. Chau told he that he can fill up my hollows easily using Sculptra.

Sculptra Aesthetic is a new type of facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen and to increase facial volume in specific areas such as the cheeks, tear troughs and other facial hollows. The main ingredient is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades.

Notice the hollow I have below my cheek bones, how skinny my jaw line is and how angular the corners of my face are.

Before the procedure, numbing cream is applied to the face for about 20 minutes.

They cleaned off the numbing cream and Dr. Chau started to inject minute amounts of Sculptra to my lower jawline and cheeks. A full treatment of Sculptra is a series of 4 sessions with each session about 3 to 4 weeks apart. However, I needed only 2 sessions before I reached my ideal amount of collagen boost. The effect of sculptra is natural and lasts for more than 2 years.

Here’s a photo of me in the middle of my session. Only the left side of my face has been injected with Sculptra and you can see how much fuller it looks compared to my right side.

I won’t deny that the injections are painful but the pain is still bearable.

Dr. Chau has a very good sense of aesthetics and I felt comfortable letting him decide what looks best for my face. He believes in only putting small amounts so that the results is easier to predict and control for the best effects.

Dr. Chau also used Dysport to correct my square jaw and give my jawline a fuller yet gentle gradient that will soften my facial features.

I had a little redness right after the treatment and the next day, there were some light bruises around the injected areas especially around my tear trough. It was nothing too serious and a little concealer was able to cover up most of it.

You can see that my face was much fuller the next day. This fullness is mainly attributed to the Sculptra liquid that was injected and would be slowly absorbed into the body while it reinforces the collagen production deep within your skin. The fullness you see in the photo dissipated within 2 days and I felt as if nothing has changed.

But after a couple of months, especially after my 2nd session, I realised that my face is much fuller than before.

Photos speaks a thousand words and the easiest way to see this is to compare my before and after photos.

After:

My face is fuller, less angular and my square jaw is gone! It’s not a drastic change and I still look very much like me but I love how much softer and more feminine my contours are now.
