Meeting a Singapore Olympian before he leaves for London

It’s time for the Olympic Games again and thanks to McDonalds and Coca-Cola, I was able to meet a homegrown athlete, Dayyan Jaffar, and wish him luck before he heads to London as one of Coca-Cola’s Athlete Ambassadors for its London 2012 Olympic Games campaign. Before I continue, I’ll like to also like to give credit to McDonald’s and Coca-Cola for some of the photos used on my post. ( All photos with rounded corners and watermark is taken by me and those without were courtesy of McDonald’s and Coca-Cola.)

Can you spot which one is Dayyan Jaffar?

If you don’t know yet, he’s the archer who won a bronze medal in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics. This young and handsome chap is is one of Coca-Cola’s Athlete Ambassadors for its London 2012 Olympic Games campaign. He’s very talented and very humble. When we were watching a special video feature where he got to work with awesome DJ Mark Ronson to create the Coca-Cola song for the 2012 Olympics, he was cringing when he saw his own interview on the big screen. It was kinda cute and very sweet. Seeing him in the flesh, he’s the role model of the goody boy next door with his dearest mother. I spoke to both him and his mother and the conversation was so heartwarming that I’m feeling so excited for him in having this immense opportunity to play a part in bringing glory to the county .

If you haven’t seen Coca-Cola X Mark Ronson’s “Move To The Beat” then please go Youtube and listen now. The music is super catchy and the sounds of sport were all integrated into the beat. See if you can spot the sounds of the archer! Dayyan Jaffar is a part of that music collaboration and he had Mark Ronson come into his home to play Rock Band!

McDonalds and Coca-Cola are both official sponsors of the Olympics for many years with Coca-Cola supporting since in 1928 and McDonalds joining the longstanding commitment to the Olympics since 1976. Naturally this year’s Olympics is no exception to both companies and  Coca-Cola has release these special commemorative London 2012 Olympic Games glasses exclusively available at McDonald’s!

This series of limited edition Coca-Cola London 2012 Olympic Games Glasses in six colors – Pink, Green, Blue, Aqua, Charcoal and Purple. Each glass is embossed with an official London 2012 Olympic Games sport pictogram – Gymnastics, Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Football and Cycling. Coca-Cola and Olympic Games fans will be able to collect the glasses from May to September 2012, only at McDonald’s.

Not only did I get a good McDonalds meal with a coke float in one of these glasses while getting to meet Dayyan, they were very generous and gave each of us a full set of glasses to take home! * Thank You!*

The six glasses came beautifully pack in a display box. Some of you guys might have seen me post the photos of the glasses on instagram ( If you want to follow me, it’s @renzze ). You can be sure that I’ll be drinking from these glasses and rooting for the Singapore athletes at the Olympic games from the confort of my living room!

I really love how they come in 6 different colors. A must get for collectors and  all you need to do is purchase a meal at McDonalds!

My favorite is the blue glass which represents Swimming.

Even my dogs, Louis and Emmie, wants to get in on some action with the glasses! (And yes, Emmie had a shave recently because she was overheating in the hot humid weather.)

The frisbee is also a limited edition collectible for the 2012 London Olympics but unfortunately, this one cannot be bought. It was part of a gift bag by Coca-Cola that I won during the event.

Louis claimed ownership of the Frisbee. I guess thats what I’ll be throwing to him at the beach during his next day out. I wanted to take him out this weekend but Saturday was rainy 🙁

The tee shirt will be for me.

And the bag? It’s up in the air!

I wanted to the bag put on Louis and Emmie as a camel pack but it really looks more like a sporting outfit on them. They are joining McDonald’s and Coca-Cola in celebrating the Olympic spirit! They love it when they can be a part of the action as well. My dogs are super KPO one so I’ll try to include them in whatever activities I’m doing including taking photos!

So get into the action and collect your very own set of Olympic glasses from McDonalds and cheer for Singapore in the upcoming Olympics! Here’s the video of the glasses.

And here is the section where I do my usual outfit post.

I was actually a little sick that day but I wanted to show support for our local Olympic heros so I still headed down to the event after work. I had chosen to wear a more sporty outfit that would still look decent enough to head to the office.

Dress from Celine

Booties from Hermes

Canvas Phantom bag from Celine

Accessories from Chanel, Hermes, Cartier and Patek Philippe

Ribbon hair clip from Korea

Here’s the close up of the Hermes booties that was bought on sale. If you like it but don’t want to splurge, I was told that there is an inspired version in Charles and Keith which could be an alternative for those on a tight budget.

hi karen, just wanted to ask where do you usually bring your dogs for grooming? my dog went for one previously and he came back with an injured ear so i’m looking for another now.
also, can you post a short tutorial on how to tie your hair in this style as seen in your photos from this post? it’s really pretty!
    thank you!

      Hi leo,

I’ve brought my dogs to so many pet stylist to try out but it really depends on the breed of dog you have cause different groomers specialises in different breeds. Les Pooche is pretty good for handstripping and for most dog breeds.
      Address: 26 Holland Grove Road
      Telephone: 6469-933

My hairstyle is actually a very simple french braid but tied sideways instead of top down. I’ll try to do a mini tutorial for the blog once I find some free time 🙂
