Maya Bay is a gorgeous beach! Other than the panoramic view of the Andaman sea you are mesmerized by the 200m long silky soft white sand beach with amazing crystal clear water. This is also the same place that “The Beach” starring, Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed.
The tsunami made a huge impact on Maya Bay. While the waters are clear and the beach is still delightful, I was told that the coral life is not as beautiful as how it was before the Tsunami. Hopefully, since Maya Bay is now a national reserve area, nature will restore itself in time to come.
April and November are supposed to be the best times for visiting Maya Bay area and it is nearer to Krabi then it is to Phuket.
