Jolene's Birthday Celebration 2012

These photos are from awhile back. Back in the days where the girls have all been too busy to meet up often. I was usually the one that had the hardest schedule to fit in but we made it work somehow. We found a nice weekend afternoon to meet up at Costal Settlement to celebrate Jolene’s birthday.

With each passing year, we all get caught up in our own web of responsibilities but it’s crucial to remind ourselves that it’s the people that matter the most to us. Not things, not our jobs, not our houses, or cars, but people that we love and care about. So no matter where life takes you, you need to make sure you have time for friends and family.

Costal Settlement is a pretty regular hang out place for me because my doggies are welcomed and they’ve got a pretty good selection of food and drinks. It’s the first time for Jolene, Sushi and my godson, Leo who wanted to check it out. We didn’t make any reservations but were lucky to find a nice spot almost immediately despite it being pretty crowded. We did our usual catchup session and fussing over little Leo. Jolene is going through a series of new and exciting changes and I’m so happy for her even though it may mean that I won’t see her as often. In fact, as I’m typing this post, I’m reminded that we are supposed to have planned for our meetup soon as I was away previously.

I always value my time with the girls because I feel that in this day and age, people no longer value true relationships and friendships. A genuine friendship involves a shared sense of caring and concern, a desire to see one another grow and develop, and a hope for each other to succeed in all aspects of life. True friendship involves action: doing something for someone else while expecting nothing in return; sharing thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or negative criticism.

I have been lucky to always have been able to find true friends surrounding me but with each passing year and with new people I meet, I now realize that what I have in abundance is a rarity and I’m am truly blessed.

Happy Birthday Jolene, may all your new plans and fresh directions in life work out seamlessly for you. Hope you like your gift even though I didn’t have much time to shop!
