My flight took me to the largest city in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh which is also known as Saigon. It’s my first time in Vietnam and the only impression I had about the country was derived from the west-end musical Miss Saigon.
The first thing that struck me was the immense number of motorcycles! It was initially rather intimidating to cross the roads but I later learnt that as long as you walk in a consistent speed, you could literally close your eyes and cross the road because the bike will just evade you to the right and left.
I spent the rest of the day taking in the rich mix of colors and sights as I wandered along the back lanes and the Ben Then Market area. There is so much going on constantly that it’s hard not to go around in wide-eyed wonder. The city is bustling with life in every corner and in every alley.
