Each lunar new year is characterized by one of the 12 zodiac animals and this year, it’s the Year of the Monkey! To be precise, it’s the Year of the Fire Monkey. I’ve been told that this year, those born in the years of the rabbit, snake, ox, rooster and rat will have the best luck out of all of the animal signs. Sounds like it will be a good year for me! You hardly see me wearing red but I will always make an effort to don the festive color during Chinese New Year as it makes my elders very happy to see me dressed in such an auspicious color. Despite the modern cuts, this dress has taken all the elements of a traditional cheongsam. I love the sturdy silk brocade fabric, the chinese knot buttons and the gorgeous embroidery of chinese crane which symbolises longevity and good fortune. Perfect way to start my Chinese New Year visiting.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Chinese New Year and may all your wishes come true!

This cheongsam is so pretty! Is this tailor made? Any recommendation? Thank you.
Hi Lin Tan,
I ordered this off the rack piece from Ching at Far East Plaza 2 months ago before tailoring it to fit. Unfortunately, they don’t carry it anymore.
Thank you
