I love this beautiful black organza lace and taffeta-silk mini dress that I wore for my first family dinner in 2011. I have been away since 31st December and it was a special occasion for me to finally enjoy a lovely dinner with my parents for this first time this year.
The quirky LBD I wore that day was perfect for the occasion and even my mum who seldom take note of what I wear, commented that it was really pretty. The intricate lace details, three dainty bows lining the back and adorable puff hem skirt made this dress a standout.

Hi Karen, I visited Adelarose’s site and I am hooked. In fact, I think you were discerning to accept being their ambassador because their pieces are so you! Classy and unique instead of the regular run of the mill blogshops offerings.
However, prior to making any purchases (be still be heart!!!), I was wondering if you have altered Organza lace cocktail mini dress or it’s in its original form from Adelarose?
That’s because I am really short and I always need to allow my boutiques to run the alterations for me. Guess I need to brace myself in case they run way long and I am a little dismayed. The model’s 1.72m!!!

Thanks! I really do think that their designs are in line with the sort of pieces I would wear and always look forward to their new collections. I’ve altered the dresses at Auntie May alteration to fit as their sizes are more in line with international sizings rather then local ones. I’ve always been petite so alterations have been a part of my shopping regime for years!

The sizing for each of our pieces depends on the design and cut. We basically use 2 types of sizing—UK and US and we follow these international standards for sizing. We have also provided exact dimensions (taken flat across the garment which may explain why they seem “large”) for each piece.
We have received feedback from some of our petite customers that despite selecting an “S” size, some designs were still a little loose. This was especially for the pieces which were based on the US sizing. However, as they loved the designs, they had brought the dresses to their seamstresses to alter them for a more snug fit. After which, the dresses fit them perfectly.

Hi Karen, thanks for the heads-up. I would like to try May’s Alterations after my confinement (I’m officially 38 weeks now) by sending in my Christian Lacroix blouse for a snip & tuck at the sleeves.
May I know how much you paid to alter the beautiful black organza lace and taffeta-silk mini dress featured on this post? I will give me a good idea to factor alterations in as part of the cost of the dress, albeit just a close estimation.

Congrats on your new family addition! As for the alteration cost, I’m sorry I can’t really give you an estimate. I usually bring about 10 – 20 outfits for alteration each time and I pay a lump sum so I am never sure of the cost of the individual pieces.
