The inability to control the pace of changes

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a lovely start to your weekend. It’s been awhile since I penned down my thoughts and this beautiful Saturday seems like the perfect time to do so.  I’ve been lazing in bed all morning (a rare pleasure) as I’m feeling a little under the weather. It’s nothing that some good rest, Vitamin C, water and laughter with friends can’t cure.

Looking back on my photos taken in Maldives, while typing this on a bed in KL, Malaysia right now, I realised that I’ve been really lucky for all the opportunities in my life and I should remember to live in the moment while I’m striving for better changes.

Recently, I’ve been a little frustrated with the pace of the multiple changes in my life. I’m sure if you’ve ever tried to make changes in your life you can understand where I’m coming from. We get an idea in our head that we believe will make things better or make our lives better and we set out to conquer it only to find ourselves stumbling through roadblocks and not having our changes coming fast enough.

When I hit the gym, I want to get those abs tight and hard in 2 sessions and to see those define muscles on my arms by the 4th trip.

When I do yoga, I wanna bend like an acrobat and maybe do a one arm hand stand with a perfect hollow back when I don’t even go consistently.

When I decide to change my blog layout (which I did if you haven’t noticed), I want everything to be perfect immediately with no kinks and troubleshooting to worry about.

I want to be a better writer, tomorrow.

When I start a business, I want to start making money immediately without dealing with all the red tapes and reputation building.

When I am in an emotional turmoil, I want to get up and move on and leave it all behind me in an instant.

There are many changes happening all at once right now for me and I wish with all my heart that I could speed things up but I know I can’t. I just have to keep doing what I’m doing and not give up until the change finally happens.

Part of the magic of changes is that as long as you keep working at it, you’ll get those abs, muscles, flexibility, pretty blog, well-written articles, successful business, emotional happiness eventually. It might take weeks, months or even years but it doesn’t matter because these habits would have already been ingrained into your daily life. It is who you are and not who you want to be anymore.

When we start a change with an idea, it’s just a dream. We have an unrealistic timeline and a hope that we’ll be better and happier at the end of that dream. But if you take changes slowly, savouring every step and every effort you put along the way to get there, you’ll learn so much more about yourself and you’ll be indulged in a world of experience that changes your very being.

On this melancholy Saturday, I’m doing my own inner reflections of who I am and where I’m going and I’m glad that I am able to share it with you.

PS: These series of photos were taken on one of my most care-free moments in Maldives as I suntanned on the beach till the sun set completely.

Well written and can’t be anymore true. Life is not all about fruitful results. Sometimes or most of the times we may never get to our goals, but what is the most important is the journey. Life is a journey. Wishing you a well rested weekend. XOXO
