Bali – Meetups with Friends

It’s always an added bonus when your holiday destination coincides with your friends’ holiday plans. And it’s even more awesome to be able to meet up in a foreign land when both you and your friends are coming from different countries. This was exactly what happend when I was in Bali! I headed over to my friends villa to meet them!

They had booked a privately owned villa for the five of them.

It was cozy and they too had their own private pool. Such is the luxury of holidaying in Bali!

We spent the better part of the day chilling in their villa and swimming in the pool.

It’s no exaggeration! Doing nothing was the highlight of being in Bali and it was nightfall and with rumbling tummies that we decided to venture out to Kuta for some dinner.

We walked around Kuta till we found some random restaurant that looked enticing enough for us to walk in. I don’t even remember the restaurant’s name anymore.

All I do remember is that they offered both Indonesian cuisine as well as western choices and that the food was good enough to make us smile after swimming and chilling away our entire afternoon.

After dinner we walked around the city heading towards the touristy Kuta Beach.

When I walked pass Geleto Sweet Dreams, I simply couldn’t pass up yummy ice-cream for desserts. I love ice-cream!

Finally we got to the Kuta beach which was pitch dark. But the sound of waves are always calm and the sea breezes are comforting so we sat there in the darkness on the sand just to soak up the moment.

The photo above is the true representation of what I was seeing. In the photos below, I used manual settings on my compact camera (canon S90) to readjust the lighting so that we can be seen. The results make the photo look like it was taken at twilight which is not accurate. In fact, you can tell that it was actually really dark just based on the intense graininess of the photos.

Since the afternoon was spent frolicking in their villa, we decided that we should head back to my villa to drink and chill for the rest of the night.

It’s such a nice moment to have people you love all taking time off from their usual busy schedules to get together and do nothing together. To enjoy each others company into the wee hours of the night without having to worry about waking up early for work the next day or even about going home!

My friends and I had planned different itineraries for our Bali trip as for many of them, it was their first time to Bali and for me, it was fast becoming one of my frequent hide-outs from stressful Singapore. We planned to meet at least a couple more times while they were still in Bali.

I agree with tianyi! Went to look at the contest and saw that some of the winners actually look far from stylish but won because of popular vote. You should have posted about the contest earlier so we can support you! You can even make brands like Bata (buy and throw away) look good lor.
