Heartland Discoveries – INVOGUE

I’ve been changing my hair color a lot in the last few months. I guess that once I decided to grow my hair out again, I had to do something else to distract me from trimming it shorter and shorter. My hair grows pretty fast which is great for changing hair styles but not so great for hair color because the roots grow out quite fast as well! I remember blogging about 5 or 6 years ago on my blog about how I’d never go blond but I guess I’ve learnt never to say never in life. While I’ve not gotten anywhere near platinum blond, I’ve been going as light as I possibly can without having to bleach my hair.

Another thing I’ve never tried before is highlights. Usually when I dye, I dye in one singular color. But it’s a period of experiments and new experiences for me, so I decided to give highlights a go. Kalvin at Invogue Hair and Beauty Salon is pretty known in the local community for his fabulous hair coloring and rebonding skills. In fact, if you are looking for someone to achieve funky colors that might be tricky, he’s probably the stylist to go to. However, I didn’t want to go purple or pink. I just wanted blond highlights. I briefly considered doing the ombre effect on my hair but I feel it looks better when the hair is much longer so I decided on just normal highlights.

When doing extensive hair treatments like coloring, the environment you are in becomes quite important because you spend a lot of time in it. I love Invogue Salon’s choice of design and color. The turquoise is so soothing and calming that it almost feels like I’m getting prepared for a beach getaway.

Although it’s situated in the heartlands of Tampines, Invogue Salon’s store design, the products they use and their equipment is no different from the salons you find in the heart of the city. I love their white chandelier, their quirky hair dryer and most of all, Kalvin’s super attentive service.

There was even a nice selection of DVD’s you could choose from to watch on your personal build-in TV while you wait for the chemical treatments to do their magic! That’s one additional service that not every salon has and it’s even rarer to find it in a salon found in the heartlands.
