I’m not sure if you remember about me blogging about the Positively Teal Bloggers Event I attended and blogged abot in May. Well, following that, I also attended the Positively Teal Zouk party to lend my support and spread Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
I headed down from work to meet KH and Jolene for yummy Bak Kut Teh dinner before heading to Zouk. There were lots of activities, music, dances, special teal drinks, catwalks and most importantly a time to bond with girlfriends in this awareness campaign.
My date that night is Jolene. I haven’t seen her in a while and it was a good opportunity to catch up as well as learning more about early detection of ovarian cancer. We were shocked at how young and how old some of those cancer survivors were which only goes to prove that you can get Ovarian cancer at any age.
Aside from all the fun we had, the message is a very serious one. And I feel that women should be aware of the message even if the teal campaign is over.
Ovarian Cancer is the 5th most common cancer among Singaporean women with 290 new cases each year resulting in 100 deaths a year. There are no tests at the moment to determine it BUT if you can recognize the signs and symptoms, early treatment can spare your life!
What are the symptoms?
– Bloated feeling in the abdomen
– Abdominal distension
– Abdominal discomfort
– Backache or ache in the legs
– Change of bowel habits
– Urinary complaints
– Abnormal vaginal bleeding
– Loss of weight
All sound really common but if you have a large part of them for a prolong period of time, please do go see a doctor to get checked. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
After the Zouk event, Jolene and I headed over to Red Dot at Dempsey to have a drink and catch up on the happenings in our lives. The exciting upcoming plans, current frustrations and worries bogging us and just good old girly support.
I’m really excited about her future plans cause it probably means I’ll see more of her 😉

Outfit of that day
The color representing Ovarian Cancer is Teal. So I dug up whatever teal I could find in my wardrobe and ended up with this outfit. The inside is an off shoulder Bebe one-piece which is a little too casual for work so I threw a jacket over for the day.
Jacket: Zara
Romper: Bebe
Belt: From another dress
Watch: Cartier Santos
Earrings: Chanel
In the evening, for the event, I took off the jacket and went casual.
Bag: Prada
Shoes: Gianmarco Lorenzi
