Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner

For my official Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner with my extended family, I wore this gorgeous fuchsia pleat and ruffles bustier dress from Adelarose. It was love at first sight for me when I saw the eye-catching silk layers that seem to form a intricate and sophisticated flow that reminded me of rose petals. The flamboyant color was also perfect for the auspicious CNY mood!

Reunion dinner was organised at Loy Sum Juan Restaurant 黎三元酒家, a highly recommended Cantonese restaurant that has been around for 3 over decades, and finally relocated to Murray Terrace. According to my relatives, the previous year’s CNY reunion dinner which I was absent from, was also held in this same restaurant.

Food was good despite the crazy CNY crowds and I was surprised to learn that even though they serve Cantonese food, the chef of this family-run restaurant is actually Hainanese! Just goes to prove that when it comes to food, there is no boundaries and whatever taste good works!

After the family gathering, we headed to the streets of Chinatown to soak in some of the festivities as well as scout out for some last minute CNY buys! The cherry blossoms in the photos below are fake and belong to a Buddhist temple but I did manage to come across gorgeous fresh real cherry blossoms in full bloom at one of the street side stalls selling CNY flowers and plants. It was so delicate and pretty but also rather expensive and impractical in our warm climate.

The ruffle tiered pink bustier dress I wore is still available at Adelarose and also comes in black. 🙂

Hi Karen, out of curiosity, is your husband in the family photo at the restaurant? 🙂

      Loretta,

Nope! He’s not in the pic! I don’t feature him on my blog as he prefers to be in the shadows.
