Overseas Supermarket

One of the weird to do things on my list whenever I travel is to browse at the supermarket. I find supermarkets fascinating and being in an unfamiliar overseas supermarket always excites me cause I’ll find cute little gems that I don’t see in Singapore.

I know there are people out there who think it’s lame to get all excited over shopping at a  supermarket but it’s a simple joy to me. And I feel a lot of culture and habits can be understood when you walk into a country’s supermarket. The sort of items that is stocked in abundance and the quality of their fresh produce. Or even the type of packaging that is commonly used.

I saw quite a few interesting items at the supermarket in London but I didn’t take pictures in the store and I couldn’t buy them home either. So I’ll just share the few little titbits that I bought for fun!

The Natural Source is one of my regularly used shower gels. In Singapore you can find it at Guardian or Cold Storage. I normally get the Lavender ones or the Mint ones (I don’t really like the lemon one). But I found that in UK, they have a couple more scents to choose from and even a men’s range. The Winter one is a limited edition scent I believe.

I also bought quite a bit of chocolates. Though I didn’t take photos of most of them cause they’ve already been consumed or opened. I love dark chocolate and I found Kit Kat had a dark chocolate version. They also had a limited edition dark chocolate Mars bar which was absolutely heavenly… they really should make it a permanent fixture! I suppose organic is a huge thing in the UK cause there was a huge range of organic chocolates and free trade chocolate. The chilli chocolate is surprisingly quite nice. I also love the fish-4-ever range of sardines and tuna cans. Simple but eye catching packaging.

And there there are these giant Tick Tacks… lol… so cute!

As to be expected of a country who supposedly is famous for their tea time practices, the supermarket is full of biscuits and goodies! Similar to the sort that I get from Marks and Spencer and the taste and the quality is comparable as well! I bought so many back and finished them just as fast. My favorite one is the chocolate cornflakes cluster bites. Once you get a taste of it, you can’t stop…. which probably explains my sudden weight gain recently. A tub a day and the fats are here to stay!

Had lovely dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and catch up with friends.

And I thought I’m going to find some carrots, cabbage and bacon when I saw the title. How disappointing?! Haha!
