My 2nd Home

We went to check out our new home away from home. It’s just been bought so nothing has been done yet… absolutely untouched… even the garden looks wild! You can see all the creeping plants all over the place… it’s gonna require a lot of work from landscape professionals and contractors to get this place up and running.

But I like this bungalow. It will be a good getaway home.

The front porch is good enough to park about 2-3 cars.

Here’s the dining room which is surrounded by glass all round and links to a 2nd hall as well as the wet and dry kitchens. At the back, near the outdoor kitchen there is another spare “maid’s room” that would most likely be a huge store/pantry room!

There are 2 living room halls in the 1st floor and another living and relaxation hall in the 2nd floor.

The guest room on the 1st floor comes with 2 bathrooms, a normal indoor one and a more rugged outdoor version. Here’s how the outdoor one looks.

There are 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and each room comes with their own attached bathroom. Here’s the bathtub in one of the rooms that faces the golf course.

And the huge room on the 3rd floor is mine!

What I love most is the extremely high ceilings. The bathroom comes with 2 separate his and her’s sink areas. Shower rooms and a stone and marble semi outdoor bathtub. While it lets light in, it’s too high up for neighbors to peep in. Don’t mind the red bucket in the tub, contractors were trying to test the water flow.

Very importantly, there is a small room attached to the main bedroom that is meant to be the walk-in wardrobe.

The balcony area is huge and is almost the same size as the bedroom itself… if not bigger. It’s built so with all the facilities for you to put an outdoor jacuzzi on the deck.

Here’s the view of the golf course from the balcony of the room. I can watch golfers play right under my nose.

And if I look towards the other side, here’s the gorgeous view of unobstructed nature and mountains in the distance.

This place needs a lot of work to be in live-in condition but there’s no hurry.

from your tags, i deduce this new home is in malaysia? looks like your dogs will love this place too, so many open spaces. but with you travelling around all the time, who will be keeping track of the contractors’ progress? i love your shorts btw.

Xiaoqi, it’s in KL. I’m not too sure yet if I’ll ever bring the dogs over cause the laws are so strict… to go over is not a problem but if I take them back to Singapore I heard they need to be quarantined for 6mths! I’ve some family that stays in KL.

Nice place to unwind after a long week.

I had toyed with the idea of getting a property in M’ysia but no relatives/friends to help me take care…abit worried hence dropped the thought.

      Barley,

There’s a lot of research to be done… the right area is also important. But KL is near enough to do get aways anytime which makes it ideal.

love ur new house…but i thought only malaysian can buy a landed property? ur hubby is a malaysian?

    • November 18, 2009 / 10:36 pm

      felicia,

Thanks! Anyways, not only Malaysian can buy landed property as long as you don’t buy on Malay reserved land. Here’s some info if you’re interested.

Foreigners are allowed to purchase any kind of property with a minimum value of MYR 250,000 (US $67,977) and can buy up to two residential properties – two condominiums (max. 50% foreign ownership within a block) OR one condominium and one of the following:

Terraced or linked houses above two storeys
      Land/bungalows and semi-detached houses
Should you wish to purchase a third property, you will need to apply to the Foreign Investment Committee of the Economic Planning Unit at the Prime Minister’s Department and provide a valid reason for the third purchase for permission to be granted. Property on Malay reserved land cannot be owned by overseas foreign investors. Other than these restrictions foreign owners of property are treated in the same way as Malaysian owners and both are protected by the same real estate laws.
